Always opt for a plastic free option when the choice is there
We believe in supporting the development of clean energy and wind energy is a renewable energy source that doesn’t emit greenhouse gases during generation. Through using wind energy carbon credits we are also supporting the reduction of pollution (by reducing the reliance on fossil fuels such as coal) and the generation of employment in developing countries (for construction and maintenance of the wind farms). In 2018 we purchased Bhilwara carbon credits, aiding in their wind energy project.DOWNLOAD PDF
In 2019 we split our carbon credit purchase between a New Zealand forest sink project located in South Taranaki and a Gold Standard Fairtrade Project supporting the purchasing of biogas digesters in India. All carbon credit projects aide in the goal to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all, as identified by the United Nations 12 Sustainable Development Goals.

On top of our commitment to Toitū to continuously reduce our emissions, we are committed to the environment. At The Clean Crew we are always seeking out new products that are friendlier to our environment and companies who we can partner with which share similar values and goals.
We are committed to educating our clients about how they too can reduce their carbon footprint. We actively take charge and recommend more eco-conscious options for their business regarding cleaning services and products.
We are doing our bit
When you become Toitū carbonzero certified it isn’t a simple process of applying, paying and receiving. Each year we are audited to ensure that we are doing our absolute best to reduce our carbon footprint and keep on track with our reduction plan.
Our Objective to reduce our emission is rooted across the whole business - we have a 5% reduction target for Scope 1, 2 and Mandatory 3 emissions by 2023. Our summary of certification can be viewed hereDownload PDF
So what makes up our footprint?
A large amount is our travel, which is something we have identified is difficult to reduce as our business grows in size. This is where the purchase of carbon credits comes in to offset the emission we cannot control.
Another element of our business we measure and control is our electricity consumption. We are partnered with Ecotricity for our power supplier, solely because they too are Toitū carbonzero certified and share the same values. Using Ecotricity means we have peace of mind that the power is sourced from a renewable source, rather than the likes of a non renewable source such as coal.
Continuing our energy efficiency improvements, we also monitor our energy usage to ensure its kept to a minimum.
Our third component we measure and aim to reduce the use of is our waste sent to landfill. We have partnered with Waste Management as their values align very well with ours. With a strong focus on safety, people and the environment, we believe Waste Management is a perfect fit for our waste solutions. Like us, Waste Management have partnered with Toitū Envirocare to reduce their carbon footprint on earth.
